Wired

Wire hangers.  They seem like a thing of the past.  Plastic has taken over.  But lucky for us, they are still in production (or still around).

What are you going to do when you have locked yourself out of the house and do not have a spare key hidden under the flower plant on the front porch?   Go to a neighbor's house and borrow a phone?  Who you gonna call? (Ghost Busters.....) A locksmith would be the ideal choice. Unless you are us and your husband is too cheap to call one.

My husband is not what they call a "jack of all trades".  So you will understand my surprise when he comes back from the neighbor's house, not with help, not with a phone, but with two metal hangers.  All windows are locked shut. The front door is locked.  The garage door won't budge.  We don't have a working keyless entry on the garage either. The back sliding glass door has a metal bar wedged in it, to "lock" it.  Where does he think his point of entry is?  I give him 5 minutes before we break a window or call someone.  We aren't professional break in artists here.

Everyone has at least one shining moment in their lives.  His was last night.  Despite my doubt!

He chose the back door.  Fashioned one hanger into a sheperd's staff shape.  Pushed it between the two sliding doors at the top.  Feed it down.  Hooked the "hook" part of the hanger on the metal bar.  And pulled.  Until the metal bar gave way.

The biggest smile crossed his face!  So proud of his work.

Jesse: That was the highlight of my accomplishments in the past 6 months.
Me:  What happened 6 months ago?
Jesse: Smiling. That was the highlight of my life.

I think I'm in love!
