Mystery Meat

You would expect it of a 70 year old.  Maybe even a 60 year old.  But a 26 year old?  Rarely.

I'll admit it.  It had been several weeks since I had last cleaned out my refrigerator.  Who knew what was safe to eat out of there?  Who knew just how long the items in the back had been in there?  Out of sight, Out of mind.  I knew it was finally time to clean out the fridge when I could no longer fit any new items into it.  (Sad, I know).

Well, there I sat tossing container after container into the trash when Mady popped into the kitchen.

Mady: Mom, what are you doing?
Me: I'm cleaning out the refrigerator.
Mady: Why are you throwing out all that food?
Me: I'm only throwing away the bad food.
Mady:  Put the food back in there!  We will have nothing left to eat.
Me: Mady, we didn't eat these leftovers and now some are starting to grow mold.  We can't eat these.  I will go to the store and buy new food.
Mady: Leave the food in there!
Me: Mady........
Mady: Well, when I get older, I am NEVER go to throw any of my food in the refrigerator away!!
Me: You have to throw out the bad.
Mady: No, I will never throw any away.

As you can guess, I'm not a left-overs person.  I rarely eat them.  I always think that I will, so I box them in containers and store them in the fridge.  Only to dump them back out a week later.  It's a vicious cycle.  One that Mady is determined to stop.  Mold or not!
