Waiting. Waiting. 4:00. GO!
I spring to my feet and run to check the mail. I quickly grab the contents of the mailbox and head back to the house. I anxiously shuffle through the envelopes. Bill. Bill. Junk mail. Bill. Credit Card Application. How many times are they going to send me these "You're pre-approved!" credit card application letters? If I want another credit card, I'll come find you! Junk mail. Card. Yes!!! A letter! And it's addressed to me. I wonder what it is about? What's inside?
Ever since I was little, the anticipation and excitement of receiving a letter/card in the mail has nearly killed me. My sister and I would run into the post office daily, get the mail for my mom and dad, and then quickly search through it to see if anything was for us. It's like now, when I order something online and then practically stand by the door until I see the FedEx truck pull up. Yes, I am one of those people. I meet the FedEx driver in my driveway! I don't wait for him to come to my door and ring the bell.
I LOVE getting packages, cards, and letters in the mail!
But do I ever send them to others? Rarely. How sad! I should share the love and send someone something.
Today is my mother's birthday. Since I know I am not going to drop her a card in the mail, I thought it would be special to publicly wish her a Happy Birthday on my blog. So here's to you mom......
You are 51 this year. Wow, you're an old girl (as Mady would say)! You have seen me through so much and I can't thank you enough for everything. You are an amazing woman! Look at what all you have accomplished in just 51 short years. A marriage of 25 years. Three kids. A master's degree in Education. Six beautiful, healthy grandkids. Etc. Etc. You are truly special. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Lincoln's wearing a nice smirk in that picture.
