Mr. & Mrs.

It all started with a pizza in a college dorm.  Years later, here we are.  Mr. & Mrs. Pittman!

Trent and Brittany decided to get married on the first tee at Deer Creek golf course.  It was an evening wedding and the weather could not have been more perfect for pictures.  The day was overcast, but the rain held off.  Not too hot, or cold.

Take a look at these great shots we were able to get:

Brittany had the Bridal Room all set up prior to my arrival.  It looked AMAZING!

While Brittany was finishing up hair and makeup, I grabbed these pics of Trent.

Then back to Brittany.  Her robe really helped to dress up these shots.

One of my absolute favs of the day. Brittany catching a first glimpse at herself fully dressed.

Brittany looked absolutely beautiful for her bridal shots.

Trent and Brittany right after their ceremony.

The first dance.

My heart melts when I look at this last photo.  Their life together just starting.

The Boy Who Cried Wolf

So, on occasion I've been known to be gullible.  But I would argue that it's not my fault!

My husband certainly thinks this is funny.  Every once in awhile he likes to see just what he can get me to believe.  Don't you feel sorry for me? haha.

Yesterday was just the tip of the ice berg.  Let me just recount the events for you.

Phone: Ring, Ring.

Me: Hello?

Jesse: Hey it's me.  I jumped on I-35 and I forgot my wallet at home.  I am not going to have any money to pay the toll with when I get to the booth.  Is there anyway you can read me our credit card number, so that I can see if they will take that as payment?

Me: Uh... sure. (I am feeling horrible for him at this point) I need to go grab it out of the car though.  Just a second......(Right next to my credit card in the car, I find his wallet, so I know he is telling me the truth and I proceed to read off the numbers)

Jesse: Thanks. Bye.

5 min. later

Phone: Ring, Ring.

Me: Hello?

Jesse: Can you come and get Aubrey?  I am being arrested for driving without my license and for not having money on me to pay the toll.

Me: Are you kidding me?

Jesse: Would I joke about this?  So can you come and get Aubrey or does she need to come down to the station with the cops?

Me: (My heart is pounding...and I feel like I am about to have a panic/heart attack). Are you serious?

The moment I believe.....BAM

Jesse: I am just joking!  HAHA.

Mean, I tell you! Mean. I'll admit, the things I am willing to believe sometimes is a little outrageous.  But this, it could happen.....right?

You be the judge. Would you say, gullible? or trusting?

This story was at least more believable than the time he told me he thought we hit a body floating in the water while on his parent's pontoon boat.

Oh, Jesse, what to do with you, what to do.  I will get you back some day for all this torture.  The question is how?  I guess you best watch your back!

On another note, a fun pic to finish out today's blog.  A sneak peek from a wedding I just recently did.

Blinded by Love

This past weekend I had the privilege to shoot two incredible weddings.  Each wedding was unique in its own way.

While most brides these days elect to do a First Look prior to the ceremony, there are still a good number who prefer to go the traditional route and wait to see their groom for the first time as they are coming down the aisle.  I was a traditional girl myself!  However, as I discovered this weekend, traditional doesn't have to mean old fashioned.

After speaking with Brittany, my first bride of the weekend, she agreed to do a fun twist on not seeing her man prior to go time.  It involved a blindfold in her colors and lots of emotion.  Check it out!

Brittany was so excited and relieved to be able to see Trent; without him actually seeing her.

Nerves faded quickly and joy overcame both of them!

Oh, they make me want to cry.....

Brittany and Trent, you were amazing to work with.  So easy going and willing to try anything.  Thank you!!  Enjoy the honeymoon.

Trashing the Dress

So every once in awhile, a bride decides that she doesn't want to press and seal her wedding dress after the big day.  She doesn't want to box it up.  Leaving it to collect dust for a lifetime.  She decides to "trash" it.  Go out in style, if you will.

Now, this isn't for everyone.  But for brides like Elise, it is the perfect ending to the wedding.  Elise is fun and has a care-free attitude.  I absolutely adore her!  She always has a smile on her face and practically glows.  She is beautiful!

After speaking with Elise about the details of this photo session, one thing was made very clear.  She was going for the gold.  Paint. And the river.  There was going to be no hope for her dress after the shoot.

We met at The University of Kansas' Boathouse.  Elise was part of the Women's Rowing team while at KU.  The boathouse was the perfect location for our shoot!

We started out with some nice bridal shots.....

Her shoes were to die for. Bright blue!  I love when brides pick colored heels to go with their dresses.  They really stand out.  And those red toenails....to cute!
Now for the fun.  Her husband, Maid of Honor, and one of her bridesmaids were more than willing to lend a hand here.  And thus it began......

 Fearless, I tell you.  FEARLESS......
The final product......

Then it was off to the river.  A place she spent so much time at, while in college.
Overall, this was one of the most fun shoots that I've ever done.  The colors were spectacular and the people were hilarious.

Best wishes Elise & Conor!

I'm Right, You're less Right

Attorneys.  They're trained and paid to argue.  It's what they do.

Now, I myself have never "officially" been put on trial or seen the inside of a courtroom (thankfully).  But, I will tell you that, despite my never going to law school, I am slowly learning the art of arguing.  It does not matter the size of the argument, large or small, you are in it to win it.  It is on like Donkey Kong.

According to Dr. Fiona Travis, a psychologist who has counseled lawyers for more than 20 years, most lawyers, on personality tests, score high on the “thinking” scales and low on the “feeling” scales. And it’s not something that happens only after a lawyer passes the bar. It goes all the way back to law school, where one learns to argue, cross examine, stonewall, delay, outwit, and avoid showing weakness to opposing counsel.

To me, it is funny.  Ever since Jesse finished KU law school, he has become a different man.  Sure, the stubbornness was always there.  But now, his life is one big courtroom. He's the Samson of arguments.  Always trying to win his case.

Now, you bring that kind of knowledge/determination into a marital argument (which thankfully we don't have many of) and he's unstoppable.  He can take the most absurd idea and make it sound legit.  How is a poor old girl like me suppose to keep up?  Perhaps, I need to go to law school so that we can both be on the same page.

Lord knows I love him!  How can I not, when he gave me four of these?

Kari + Ryan: Memory Lane Engagement

Law school.  A time of late nights, early mornings, studying, and hours upon hours spent in the library.  And apparently a time to fall in love too.  At least for Ryan and Kari.

Ryan and Kari met at Washburn Law School.  Ryan is super sweet and a tad old fashioned (which I love about him).  Unfortunately, not many men are that way anymore.  Kari is beautiful and has a remarkable smile.  Her face is so expressive!

We started the shoot out at Paisano's in Topeka, KS.  The location of their first date.  It was so much fun to tag along with them and re-live a part of their past.

Some of my absolute favs..........

Then we headed to a rose garden and park accross the street.  The flowers were so beautiful that day!

The real fun began when they pulled out their matching yellow vintage bikes.  One word.  LOVE.  I am a fan of vintage, but these bikes were to die for.  And matching bikes?  How cute is that?

We ended our session, where it all started for them.  At the Washburn Law Library.

Kari, you are so beautiful!

This shoot was a blast!  I wish I could work with them every weekend.  Kari and Ryan you are amazing!  Thanks for all of the laughs and for putting up with my requests.  Looking forward to the wedding!
